IOLA Philippines: Annual Retreat and New Year Jubilee Celebration

The IOLA 2012 Annual Retreat was held at St. Scholastica’s Center of Spirituality, Tagaytay City, from December 27, 2012 to January 2, 2013. Fr. Romeo (“RV”) Villavicencio, a diocesan priest from Mindoro, served as retreat facilitator. The talks focused on conversion, faith and joy to help the members celebrate meaningfully IOLA’s golden anniversary which has for theme “Responding to God’s Fidelity.”

The talks included:

• “Be sorry for sins: Conversion and Reconciliation.”
• “A Journey Towards New Life: Pastoral Zeal in the Mind of Paul.”
• “Transformation of Desire.”
• “Joy and Forgiveness.”

The last day was dedicated to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The IOLA members took turn in adoration by groups. In late afternoon, there was the simple rite of entrance to pre-postulancy (Lea Bondoc and Julaida David ) and postulancy (Gigi Lastimosa and Arlene Suico).

In the early New Year morning 2013, members of the Pauline Family converged in Tagaytay for the Rites of Profession: perpetual profession (Gloria M. Sanchez); Silver Jubilee professions (Magdalena Alcaraz, Eva Josefa Guzon and Emma Carlos); and three renewal of profession (Elserie Celosa, Sylvia Edwards and Mary Dawn Sotelo).

During the general assembly in the afternoon, Nelia, the coordinator, presented the various activities programmed for the Golden Jubilee year: a seminar on vocation on March 22-24, a summer encounter on May 16-19 and the culminating event on December 27, 2013.

The construction of the new IOLA Center in Pasay City would be the principal project of the Jubilee. During the night members were welcomed at the residence of the family of Fr. Armand Tangi, SSP, in Mendez, Cavite where “a night to remember” celebration” was held.
