Blessed is he who will have become poor, willingly, for Jesus; for all that he has given to the Lord will be changed into eternal wealth. Blessed are the poor, for theirs will be the kingdom of heaven… No one can serve two masters, no one can keep his foot in two stirrups: either one serves comfort and avarice, or one serves our Lord Jesus Christ (I Novissimi…, 66-67).
