Why should I love poverty? For three reasons: 1) Because poverty is the principle of many virtues. 2) Jesus was the great lover of poverty from his birth in the miserable grotto, until his death on Calvary, lying on the very hard bed of the Cross. 3) Poverty is a source of great peace (FSP36, p. 436).
