«If you wish». Religious life is a gift of God and a perfect, continual, eternal act of love for Him. It is a love that rises directly to Him. It is an act of free will on the part of the Christian; it is a step that the Lord proposes to someone who wants to go beyond the simple commandments. Therefore, it is a choice of love also on the part of God (ACV, p. 57-58).
