The life of St. Paul was totally a life of obedience. Jesus talked to him either directly or through St. Peter; now through visions, now through happenings and special circumstances. And St. Paul was always ready for the voice of God: whatever his intentions were or his special views, obedience was above all else (APim, 65-66).
