“Whoever wants to follow me,” says Jesus, “must deny himself”—that is, renounce gluttony, envy, laziness, etc.—“and take up his cross.” For many, the cross is poor health; for others, their temperament; for others still, their passions. And for us? Do we follow Jesus? (FSP33, 98)
