Entrance Antiphon

The disciples with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with Mary, the mother of Jesus, alleluia. (Acts 1:14)

The Gloria is said or sung.

Collect

O God who gave the Holy Spirit to the Apostles who were praying with Mary the Mother of Jesus, grant us that, by her intercession, we may serve faithfully your majesty and by word and example spread the glory of your name.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

First Reading

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles   (1:12-14)

(They devoted themselves to prayer together with Mary, the mother of Jesus).

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called Mount of Olives, which is a Sabbath day’s journey away. On entering the city they went to the room upstairs where they were staying. Present there were Peter and John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. They all gave themselves to constant prayer with one mind, together with some women and Mary the mother of Jesus and his brothers.

The Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm  (Ps 86)

Response: Of you are told glorious things, O city of God!

On the holy mountain is his city
cherished by the Lord.
The Lord prefers the gates of Zion to all Jacob’s dwellings R/.

Of you are told glorious things O city of God!
And Zion shall be called ‘Mother’
For all shall be her children.
It is he, the Lord Most High,
who gives each his place. R/.

In his register of peoples he writes:
“These are her children.”
And while they dance they will sing:
“In you all find their home!” R/.

Second Reading

A Reading from the Letter of St Paul to the Galatians  (4:4-7)

(God sent forth his Son, born of woman.)

But when the fullness of time came, God sent his Son. He was born as the Son of a human mother and lived subjected to the Jewish Law, in order to redeem those who are subjected to the Law and to make us adopted sons and daughters of God. And because you are sons, God has sent into your hearts the Spirit of his Son which cries out: “Abba! Father!” Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir by God’s grace. The Word of the Lord.

Acclamation

Alleluia! Alleluia!
Standing by the cross of Jesus was the sorrowful Mary,
teacher and Queen of heaven and earth. Alleluia!

Gospel

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John  (19:25-27)

(Behold, your son! Behold, your mother!)

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister Mary, who was the wife of Cleophas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that moment the disciple took her into his own home. The Gospel of the Lord.

Prayer over the Offerings

By your mercy, O Lord, and through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, may this our offering obtain for your Church always greater growth and the continuous radiance of her virtue.

Through Christ our Lord.

Preface
The Lord be with you.
R/ And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
R/ We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
R/ It is right and just.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, and to praise, bless and glorify your name on this feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the first to proclaim Christ, even before the apostles.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, she hastened to bring her Son to John, that he might be sanctified and filled with joy. It was the same Spirit who made Peter and the other apostles fearless in preaching the Gospel to all nations, with its saving message of life in Christ.

In our own day the Blessed Virgin inspires by her example new preachers of the Gospel, cherishes them with a mother’s love, and sustains them by her unceasing prayer, so that they may bring the Good News of Christ the Saviour to all the world.

With all the saints and angels we praise you for ever.

All:                Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts …

Communion Antiphon

All generations will call me blessed. He who is mighty has done great things for me and holy is his name. Alleluia. (Lk 1:49)

Prayer after Communion

We, who have partaken of this holy banquet on the feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Apostles, beseech you, O Lord, that, persevering in doing your will as we serve our brothers and sisters, we may dedicate ourselves evermore generously to the edification of your kingdom.

Through Christ our Lord.

Solemn Blessing

The Deacon or the Priest says:

Bow down for the blessing.

Then the Priest, holding his hands extended over the people, says:

May God, who through the childbearing of the Blessed Virgin Mary willed in his great kindness to redeem the human race, be pleased to enrich you with his blessing.

R/ Amen.

May you know always and everywhere the protection of her, through whom you have been found worthy to receive the author of life.

R/ Amen.

May you, who have devoutly gathered on this day, carry away with you the gifts of spiritual joys and heavenly rewards.

R/ Amen.

And may the blessing of almighty God, the Father, and the Son X and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain with you for ever.

R/ Amen.
