June 30 – ST PAUL THE APOSTLE

June 30

ST PAUL THE APOSTLE,
PATRON OF THE PAULINE FAMILY

Solemnity

“The Pauline Family was raised up by St Paul to continue his works; it is St Paul living today—but today he is composed of many members. We have not chosen St Paul; it is he who has chosen and called us. He wants us to do that which he would do if he were living today…” (Bl. James Alberione)

The celebration of the Solemnity of St Paul has three ends:

• to make us know, remember and believe the great teachings of the Apostle, the Doctor of the Gentiles;
• to lead us to the imitation of his great virtues, especially charity towards God, love of Jesus Christ, zeal for souls: ‘to live Jesus Christ’;
• to infuse in us the confidence and devotion to our Protector and Father, given to us by the special providence of God (Carissimi in San Paolo, pp. 41-42).
