XXV

The Church was instituted as one, as Jesus Christ is one and as Peter is one. In it there is unity of faith, of government, of charity, even amid many peoples and cultures. “Catholic, Apostolic, Roman,” are the distinctive characteristics. All are invited to enter the Church (see Eph 1:22; 5:23; Acts 8:1; 11:22; Gal 6:10; 1 Thes 5:15; 1 Cor 1:10).

I thank you, O Divine Master, for the institution of the Church, Mother of believers. Following your example, I believe, love, cooperate, suffer for her growth. You have won her with your blood and have willed that she be holy, glorious, immaculate.
May the straying return to her; may those who do not yet believe join her.
To be a worthy child of God, I must be a trustworthy child of this Mother.
