XXVII

Hell is the state and place of eternal punishment for the rebellious. They did not seek God and they will be deprived of him forever. They followed evil, and they will be subjected forever to its pain. After the universal judgment, even the body will suffer for the pleasures indulged in. One mortal sin alone merits an eternity of torments (see Lk 16:19–31).

My God, I thank you for the light that you give me today.
One goes to hell knowingly, willfully.
I can avoid sin, and I can obtain pardon if I have committed sin in the past.
“From the pains of hell, deliver us, O Lord.”
The real evil is sin; all other evils can be changed into merit.
I must fear sin more than death.
