How good you have been with me, O Lord! My words are not adequate to thank you. Instead of punishing me for the many faults I have committed, you have forgiven all of them with infinite mercy in this holy confession. I am sorry with all my heart, and I promise, with the help of your grace, never to offend you again and to make amends with much love and with good deeds for the countless times I have offended you in my life.

The resolution should be complete. In other words, it should aim at personal sanctification and loving God with all one’s mind, strength, and heart. For example, if on charity toward one’s neighbor: to think well of others, desire their good, do good to them, and speak well of them.
