I Am the Life

  1. O wellspring of eternal life,
All life is grafted, Lord, in you.
You break asunder bonds of death,
And give your life to us anew.
  1. Descending from your splendid throne,
You’ve brought this gift to us below:
    Profusely from your open side,
    Divinest riches you bestow.

  1. Your Mystic Body we have joined,
    Engrafted by baptismal grace.
Life flowing from your seven springs
Lifts up anew our fallen race.
  1. Though wounded by our parent’s fault,
    Our nature is by grace restored;
Virtue is practiced for your love
    And reaps the heavenly reward.
  1. For only you can give true peace,
Lead lands to live in harmony,
Cause innocence to bloom in homes,
    Grant to our works prosperity.
  1. Our everlasting Truth, Way, Life—
By you we’re led, by you we live.
    To Father, you, and Paraclete
May all men praise and glory give. Amen.
