We Adore You

We adore you, hidden God,
in this Sacrament.
Christ, our Savior and our King,
truly present.

Humbly we come before you,
hearts completely won,
Lost in wonder at the great
marvels you have done.

Sense alone will fail to grasp
this great mystery.
Faith and love enable our
human eyes to see.

We believe all the truth that
God’s own Son has shown.
Nothing can be truer than
what he has made known.

p. 334

On the cross was hidden
your divinity.
Hidden here before us, too, is
your humanity.

We in faith profess them both,
one in our belief.
And we make our own the plea
of the dying thief.

Thomas saw your wounds, O Lord;
these we do not see.
Yet do we confess of you:
Lord and God to be.

May this faith of ours ever grow
and our hope increase.
May our burning love for you,
Jesus, never cease.

O most blest memorial
of Christ’s sacrifice,
Giver of eternal life
Bread of Paradise!

You are food for our hung’ring souls;
live in us, O Lord.
Be the only goal we seek;
be our sole reward.

We are cleansed, Lord, by your blood;
filled with grace and love.
One drop shed to save the world
would have been enough.

Yet you suffered and died for us,
mankind lost in sin.
Oh! how great a price you paid
to redemption win.

p. 335

Jesus, whom we now behold
veiled from human sight,
Grant us what we thirst for so:
that one day we might

Face to face behold your vision,
bliss you have in store.
Love surpassing space and time,
joy forevermore.
