℣. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
℟. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

The body of Jesus, anointed with spices, is brought to the sepulcher. Jesus had predicted his passion: “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death” (Mt 20:18–19).

Lord Jesus, you have reached the climax of your humiliation, the sepulcher. How precious we all are if you, Lord, have given your life for us, offering yourself as a victim. I want to follow you wherever you call me to cooperate in your work of redemption.

Have mercy on us, O Lord.
Have mercy on us.

Holy Mother, etc.

While my body here decays,
May my soul your goodness praise,
Safe in paradise with you. Amen.

Quando corpus morietur,
Fac ut animae donetur
Paradisi gloria. Amen.
